The Fleece Press

The Fleece Press has been the one-man enterprise of Simon Lawrence, with support from Simon’s late wife Chris and son Ben. Simon started to print in 1980, when he printed his first book for his grandfather, Stanley Lawrence who ran T. N. Lawrence & Son in Bleeding Heart Yard in London. Simon has focused on publishing how own books throughout his career. The books are usually illustrated by or are about wood engravers and printmakers, and with other books about the official war artists, collections of letters, miniature books, and T. E. Lawrence. In particular, the printing of wood engravings is the Press’ speciality. By April 2024 the Press had published 106 books and made around 250 pieces of ephemera. In July 2024 the workshop was closed.
