Evergreen Press, established in the 1980s by John Grice, mainly designs and prints limited editions books, but it also frequently editions wood engravings, and still takes on some jobbing work. It is a member of Oxford Guild of Printers and the Fine Press Book Association. Over the years the press has built up an extensive collection of fine, and often rare, type and works with a range of presses. Typesetting and presswork is by hand, although books of greater extent can be set and cast by Monotype hot-metal. The press holds over 300 cases of type, much of it ‘founders’. Some are well-known, like Caslon and Bembo, and some, like Romanée and Cancelleresca Bastarda, are particularly rare. All are fine faces.
